Lights was originally included as a bonus track on the iTunes version of Ellie’s debut album, Lights. It was later edited for inclusion on Bright Lights and was released as a single on 13th March 2011. It is Ellie’s sixth single release.
Lights was expected to be the lead single from Bright Lights after it was announced on Ellie’s twitter on 8th September 2010 that Lights would be the next single. Lights was announced to be the next single in January, and the digital EP featured Ellie’s cover of Rihanna’s Only Girl (In the World) that Ellie performed on BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge in December 2010.
It peaked at number 49 on the UK Singles chart.
The music video was filmed in September 2010, and officially released 20th January 2011. It shows Ellie dancing and playing drums, whilst being surrounded by various lighting effects. Captures of the futuristic video can be seen here.

















Ellie, born in Hereford, is probably best known for her number four hit 'Starry Eyed' and her cover of Elton John's 'Your Song'. She topped the BBC Sound of 2010 poll, and won the 2010 Critics' Choice Brit Award. After that her year just got better, with her debut album going straight in at number one. Ellie performed at most of the festivals in the summer of 2010, including Glastonbury! Her final single of 2010, 'Your Song', peaked at number two in the UK Top 40 and 2011 was another great year for Ellie, who released her debut album in America in March and performed at Coachella festival. Ellie was also chosen to play for the royal couple (William and Kate) at their after party to their wedding in April, and even appeared on Saturday Night Live with Tina Fey. She was later chosen to represent drinks brand, SoBe, in the UK. Ellie is set to release new music in 2012, and Ellie-G.com cannot wait!
