The 23-year-old singer-songwriter was excited and nervous to be performing at the historic festival in its 40th year on Friday.

Ellie confided: “It’s very bizarre, it’s really scary but in a kind of positive way. You’ve got to have a bit of nerves really, ’cause I’m playing later – it’s bizarre it’s really strange to be here.

She added: ” I feel like my brain just kind of locks down a little bit so I can concentrate and the tomorrow I’ll just be like ‘Oh my God!’

“And to play on the John Peel Stage is really, really exciting and me and my band are just really psyched and excited.”

Ellie shot to fame this year with her hit debut album Lights, and said she will begin working on new material eventually, but at the moment she still feels new on the scene.

She said: “There will be new stuff eventually, but I kind of feel like I haven’t given my album a chance to breathe yet, so I just want to keep keep playing stiff from that I suppose. There will be new stuff though.”

“Me and my manager argue but he’s like my best friend. It could be about anything,” the ‘Starry Eyed’ singer revealed during an interview with Stylist magazine.

“On tour everything becomes a lot more magnified and when you have to perform every night, wanting the particular bed you like on the bus becomes important.

“That’s the last thing I kicked off about. All the bands claimed their beds before I got there,” Goulding added to the mag.

Ellie – who will be performing at Glastonbury Festival this weekend – told the publication that she gets on great with her record label.

She explained: “My label is absolutely brilliant – they’ve been great. Nothing has ever been forced and nothing’s ever been done that I haven’t wanted.

“My manager and I make a good team and if I’m not comfortable with something I just say.”

“The pair hit it off instantly and though it’s only early days, they’re both really happy together.”
